2023 KFTC Annual Membership Meeting
We have reached capacity for most of our Annual Meeting programming, meals, and lodging. Registration is now closed. If you have a question, please reach out to Heather at [email protected].
We still have plenty of room for folks to join us on Friday evening for the premiere of the film After the Flood (7-8 pm) and for Saturday evening with Rev. William Barber and Hannah Drake (7-9 pm). Both events are free and open to the public. All are welcome!
We’re excited to invite you to attend this year’s KFTC Annual Meeting where members from around the state will gather for fun, fellowship, and learning.
Don’t forget to join us for the Virtual Annual Business Meeting where we’ll hear chapter petitions and vote for statewide officers. This is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 7 - 9 pm ET via zoom. Click here to register.
The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 28 and 29 at the historic Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center in Lexington.
Our theme this year is Reckoning with Race. Reckoning means to consider something. At this moment in KFTC–and ongoing–we are considering the impact of racism on our work. The agenda provides learning moments, sharing, reflection, and engagement around the idea of what it means to reckon with race so that we can build the Kentucky we deserve.
Come early on Friday and join us for an optional bus tour of Lexington’s East End (UPDATE: BUS TOURS ARE FULL!) or pitch in on a community art project. Then we’ll kick off our programming with the premier of After the Flood, a film about Black Kentuckians impacted by last summer’s floods. We’ll wrap up Friday evening with fun and fellowship including board games, music, and more.
On Saturday, we’ll learn more about where we’re gathering–the historic Lyric Theater. We’ll have a vibrant opening session with a panel of Black women who have been or currently are in public office. Guests include Attica Scott, Denise Gray, Tayna Fogle, and Serena Owen. After lunch, we’ll hear from Louisville youth about their experiences at the intersection of art, activism, race, and environmental justice. Saturday evening, you can hear from featured speakers Hannah Drake and Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II.
