Letcher Co. Chapter Meeting
Tonight we'll get together for pizza, stories, reflections, and solid planning for 'Get Out The Vote' and other tools to connect people to the polls for the upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, May 20th. Be sure to check out your voter guide or kentuckyelection.org for fact-checked candidate surveys before Tuesday. Share the site with friends as well! We've got a summer of voter engagement and fall events to look ahead to, an annual chapter meeting coming up next month, and a big visitor in Whitesburg tomorrow.
A Democratic candidate challenging Mitch McConnell for U.S. Senate, Alison Lundergan Grimes, recently announced a ten-day bus tour leading into the Primary Election. She will be at Frazier's Farm Supply in Whitesburg this Wednesday, May 14th at 10:30 am, for just a few minutes. One of KFTC's primary Voter Empowerment and communications goals for 2014 is to re-shape the public and political conversation about eastern Kentucky into a conversation about a just transition, instead of the political argument about who's a bigger friend of coal.
To meet up with other KFTC members at the Grimes stop in Whitesburg, arrive at Frazier's around 10:15 am. We'll have some extra signs reading, “Will you help us build EKY’s Bright Future?”. While candidates work to convince voters they are a bigger friend of coal than their opponents, we all lose out on a vital conversation about our future. We're ready for our political candidates, elected officials, and neighbors to join this conversation. See you tonight at the Cowan Community Center, tomorrow at Frazier's and Tuesday week at the polls!
