This past Sunday Tina and Kelly Kilgore hosted a house party for KFTC on their farm near Raven Run. There was really great turnout and most folks who came were not familiar with our work which meant lots and lots of awesome conversations.


 

Governor Beshear sides with polluters

The Kentucky Coal Association (KCA) on Monday sued the EPA after the federal agency rejected state officials' approval of 11 water discharge permits for failing to protect water quality. Beshear ordered the state to join in the action on behalf of coal companies.

Len Peters allows destructive mining to resume

Kentucky Energy Cabinet Secretary Len Peters last week issued an order allowing Cambrian Coal  to resume mining despite an administrative law judge's ruling that the mining would likely further damage Kentucky waterways.

Despite Massey disaster, 9 miners have died in last 6 months

Miner's memorial bootsThe Washington Post reported recently that, despite a crackdown on mine safety violations, nine miners have died in U.S. mines in the six months since the Upper Big Branch disaster claimed the lives of 29 miners in April.

20,000 Clean Water Act violations?
