KFTC's sign-on letter to ban high-volume hydraulic fracking in Kentucky

KFTC members and many friends made it very clear at recent public hearings – in order to protect the people, land, air and water of Kentucky, we need to ban high-volume hydraulic fracking.

Folks spoke at hearings in Madisonville, Somerset and Hazard to let state officials know that they should not subject Kentuckians to same hardships and miseries that people and communities in other states have experienced when high-volume hydraulic fracking moves into their neighborhood.

New York and Maryland have already banned this type of unconventional drilling for oil and gas out of concern for the health of their residents. Kentucky should be the next.

And we would have the energy and the jobs we need if we would choose instead to rely on safe and sustainable forms of energy. 

KFTC compiled our many comments about fracking and conventional oil and gas drilling into a letter we submited to state officials on July 31 as part of their process to gather input on the future development of oil and gas in Kentucky. More than 600 Kentuckians signed that letter along with us.
