Former Felon-led Voter Mobilization Phonebank our largest yet
Earlier today at Imani Baptist Church in North Lexington, a large group of friends with the Steppin To A New Beat program and KFTC came together to call registered voters to make sure they're all set to vote in the Election a week from Tuesday.
We had 55 people show up. Although some had to leave and we didn't have enough phones for everyone, over 40 people fully participated in the call. That's even more than at a similar event we held earlier this year leading up to the Primary Election and we had callers spread across every corner of the church.
This was possibly the largest single voter mobilization phonebank in KFTC's history.
Most of the callers were former felons and do not themselves have the right to vote, but made a larger impact than most registered voters do.
"Even if you don't have the right to vote, you can make a big difference in this election and in your community. Now is the time to stand up and prove that we count." - Tayna Fogle
Thanks to Pastor Willis Polk for allowing us to make these non-partisan voter mobilization calls from the church.
