Jefferson County Operation Voter Madness Update
Jefferson County has been out registering folks at a number of sites this week. We were able to connect with the good folks of the Student Government Association over at the University of Louisville. Casey contacted us and asked if we could come out and get students registered to vote. He first learned about KFTC at World Fest, which happened here in Louisville early last month. He was excited that we have a non-partisan approach to our voter registration. He feels this is very important, especially on a college campus.
So far this week we were able to reach a little over 125 registrants at the campus. We will be there again on Monday as one of our final sites before the deadline at 4:30pm!
We've had a fun time with the students over at the campus! There are many students who are registered at their "permanent address" which is back home, but which they have no plans to vote at on November 2. Many students either did not know they could register to vote here, have not changed their address since moving (college students move A LOT), or have never been registered before. This picture is of two first time registrants! They were very excited to be registered! One is actually celebrating her 18th birthday this weekend. Happy birthday and happy voting!
