KFTC at the Annual ACLU of KY Dinner Tonight
KFTC Members from Louisville and Lexington tonight attended the ACLU of Kentucky's 15th Annual Bill of Rights Dinner.
Usually, this yearly event focuses around a particular keynote speaker, but this year, the ACLU chose to make the program about their allies across the state - including KFTC.
Allies on campaigns like LGBT rights, immigrants' rights, youth rights, abolition of the death penalty, and reproductive freedom spoke in-person and also through a set of videos produces by the ACLU.
On the topic of Restoration of Voting Rights for Former Felons, our own Carl Matthews was featured in the video presentation and KFTC former felon spokesperson Tayna Fogle was the speaker, really exciting the crowd who cheered many times during her address.
KFTC doesn't have stances on all of the campaigns featured at the dinner, but we do recognize the ACLU as a great ally on many issues. It was a classy move to make their program all about their partners throughout the state - and was in the true spirit of collaboration and solidarity.
We hope to have a link to the videos used at tonight's dinner shortly, and when we do, we'll post them to this blog.
