Last day of the Campus Challenge, but New Power is still full steam ahead!
"Last night with the campus challenge was awesome! We're pumped up. In our two hours we filled up a lot of petition sheets and cards, and even sent cards off with some folks to share with their friends. Some people came over to sign and were excited to realize that they'd already signed elsewhere, which is awesome! The word is spreading! -- Jennifer Wurts, Bowling Green.
This is just one of the reports that we've gotten as the Campus Challenge winds down.
In the last week, students have talked with their classes, their professors, their sorority sisters, and living mates about building New Power in Kentucky. It's been a great couple of weeks, and with all our efforts, we've about doubled the number of New Power Pledgers in Kentucky.
Brittany Branham, a student from Ashland, writes, "It is important that an increasing number of people commit to working towards cleaner energy. I want to be one of those people." We're so glad to have her, and so many others on board!
Ka'Seana Jones took New Power to her sorority at WKU. "I got up and told them about the pledge and how we're in a campus challenge. They asked questions about coal and mining and energy and were super interested. So I passed out the pledge cards and got a hundred signatures easily!"
There are lots of cars and petitions in the mail, and at least one campus event happening this evening. It's safe to say, though, that Kentucky campuses have brought it to New Power! Big thanks to everyone for the tables, petitions, parties, talks, presentations, canvasses, facebooks, and energy for building New Power!
We still want to be spreading the word--and who wants to let our campuses have all the fun?--so be sure to visit the "Get Involved" tab of www.NewPowerKY.org to find materials to help spread the word!
Clearly, New Power is full steam ahead.
