Local organizing update: Madison County members work for local bike-trails
For several years, KFTC members in Madison County have worked on supporting the development of a comprehensive multi-use trail system in Berea. Through a great collaboration with Berea College and the City of Berea, a trail plan was developed through the town that would lead to Indian Fort, a popular recreational and hiking area outside of Berea.
Unfortunately, some controversy has recently developed over whether the trail should be built or not. KFTC members believe trails are a wonderful alternative transportation system, healthy recreation, and even a boom to the local economy.
KFTC members have recently been meeting individually with Berea City Council members, submitting public comments, and attending City Council meetings in favor of the trail system. An important vote is likely to come up this Tuesday, August 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the Berea City Council meeting. Stay tuned as our work moves forward.
