Member Anne Shelby to Speak about Appalachian Folk Tales in Louisville
Submitted by KFTC member E. Gail Chandler
Join us at Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church in Louisville this Sunday, July 10, for a special program - "Appalachian Folk Tales and Universal Values or Jack Goes Abroad."
This sampling of music and folk tales demonstrates that, though culturally specific, folk tales and folk music from Appalachia and other traditional cultures raise universal questions and transmit universal values.
Speakers:
Anne Shelby – A writer and storyteller whose publications include the award-winning collection, The Adventures of Molly Whuppie and other Appalachian Folktales
Jessie Lynne Keltner – Anne's sister who plays traditional Appalachian music on the audio-harp, fiddle and guitar
Graham Shelby - Thomas Jefferson member
