Need help with your taxes? Or can you offer some?
KFTC is working for a fairer, more just state tax structure that raises revenue and includes a state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for families earning up to close to $50,000.
This time of year, we also want to point to ways that people can get free help to file their taxes. There are a number of great organizations that sponsor and organize this service, and the Central Kentucky Economic Empowerment Project (CKEEP) is one.
If you live in Central Kentucky, have an adjusted gross income of less than $50,000, call 2-1-1 and schedule an appointment. (Central Kentucky member Tanya Torp is involved in finding volunteers for CKEEP, so the volunteers are bound to be about as wonderful as Tanya!)
If you'd like to volunteer, call (859) 233-4461 ext. 300 to sign up. No experience needed because a free training is available.
If you do this, while you're helping or waiting with others for your appointment, make sure to mention that there's this great organization that's working for a state EITC...
And feel free to list other organizations, or the places in your neck of the woods, that help folks file their taxes!
