Operation Voter Madness in CKY! 24 hours down- 48 to go!
Central Kentucky members have had a busy 24 hours, registering voters all over the place at all hours. After we left the William T. Young library on UK campus, we headed over to Two Keys bar to catch folks who were out on the town. Volunteers walked the streets near campus registering voters.
From Two Keys, we headed to Tolly Ho's, a 24 hour diner that is always packed. Members registered voters in the restaurant and a few headed over to talk to folks camping out for Big Blue Madness volunteers.
At 6am, members were at the Transit Center. We registered lots of people while they waited on their bus and talked to a few interested folks about our voting rights work. After the Transit Center, we headed back to UK campus and registered over 70 students to vote and reminded everyone who wasn't voting on campus to get their absentee ballots! To round out 24 hours, we tabled at the Hope Center, a local agency that serves homeless men, and registered folks to vote.
It's been an incredible 24 hours thanks to amazing, energetic volunteers. We've already registered over 150 voters and we're only one-third of the way done!
For the rest of the night we'll be at the Kentucky Theater, Cosmic Charlies, and Tolly Ho's. And there's lots of great stuff going on tomorrow. Feel free to stop by if you need to register or want to help out!
