Reflection as a Voter Empowerment Contractor

My Name is Alonzo D. Malone as I look back to late July until Nov 8 , 2023. These 130 days have been rewarding and fulfilling. To actually share my reflections as a Voter empowerment Contractor with KFTC, I have to go back to 2010 when I fought for myself and others to be able to have our voting rights restored. I lobby with KFTC on a voluntary basis with Joe Gallenstein and Serena Owens. They told me how to advocate for restoration of voting rights with the different senators and Representatives.

I gained my rights back finally in 2016. When I became a contractor for KFTC to register people to vote it became more of a passion and reward to me to be able to register people to vote and encourage young and older African American to vote and that their votes count. When the [KFTC] Campaign switched to [voter] mobilization , I felt obliged to do whatever it took to mobilize people to get to the polls and vote. I went to several counties and all over the City of Louisville, including small municipalities within Metro Louisville to get out and vote. 

Although there were some disappointments on Election Night by 3 major Candidates that were endorsed by KFTC’s [New Power PAC]. I felt encouraged by the High number of voters who turned out in Louisville to cast their vote. I felt like we as a team made a difference. I could not have done the job I did with the Team in Lexington and northern Kentucky. I felt like a part of something and that I accomplished something rewarding.
