Scott County Operation Voter Madness Update
Starting at 8:30am this morning, Scott County NAACP and KFTC members came together around a breakfast of juice and doughnuts
to meet and start planning out the days activities.
At about 9:15am, the group of nine volunteers started making voter mobilization calls to registered voters in the Boston Community (Ed Davis Precinct).
The main goal was to check in with everyone in the community to make sure they're all set to vote in the General Election on November 2nd - exactly 1 month from today. We also helped connect people with rides to the polls, let them know what they're voting location is, and let them know that they'd be receiving a KFTC Voter Guide in the mail soon.
This represents the very first of our voter mobilization calls this election, but these phonebanks will be the major backbone of our Voter Empowerment program for the next 4 weeks after Monday's registration deadline.
Late in the morning, the group has wrapped up their round of calls and is now down the street at the Festival of The Horse, where they're canvassing the crowds to register voters, just like we did there yesterday.
And a little later today at 1pm, the group will collect together again and watch speeches from today's One Nation Working Together March on Washington, a jobs rally organized by the NAACP and many other national organizations. You can also watch the rally live on the NAACP's website starting as early as noon Eastern time.
