Students back and organizing across the Commonwealth
Students are back at universities across the state and KFTC members on campuses are organizing to meet incoming freshmen and introduce them to community organizing.
At Georgetown College this weekend, Homer White organized a series of small meetings with incoming freshmen to talk about opportunities toget involved in the community including through KFTC.
This evening, the UK KFTC group invited students to an issue hop to learn about campaign areas ranging from economic justice to voter empowerment, LGBTQ issues, and clean energy.
Over 30 students came out to the event and organizers were pleased with the great success and are considering holding more.
Of particular note was the prescense of three student activists from next door at Georgetown College. This sparked some good conversation about creating a sustained dialogue between the two campuses.
Next Wednesday, UK KFTC is having their first regularly scheduled meeting of the year at which they'll schedule upcoming events including a series of voter registration table.
