KFTC's environmental, economic, racial, and social commitment to justice intrigued me to join. Kentucky is home to beautiful landscapes, cultures, and communities; however, they are at risk of endangerment due to generations of ineffective public policy and leadership. I value the unique beauty of Kentucky and its people, and I appreciate that KFTC elevates the voices of folks from the Hood to the Holler.
”...I decided to join KFTC and fight for positive and everlasting change. KFTC welcomed me with open arms and provided abundant resources and communal support to kickstart my journey of grassroots organizing.”
As a young person fearful for the future of my home state, I decided to join KFTC and fight for positive and everlasting change. KFTC welcomed me with open arms and provided abundant resources and communal support to kickstart my journey of grassroots organizing. KFTC encourages all its members to partake in the Power 101 Course as it discusses the organization's history, mission and vision, philosophy for building power, and practical organizing tools. KFTC believes in uniting its members and potential members under a common framework: love in action. As culture wars divide the nation, we must bring light to the darkness to transform it into a new balance of power and a just society.
Moreover, KFTC encourages its members to get involved in work groups. I have a profound passion for instituting educational equity, so I joined the Education Policy Work Team. I envision an education system that implements principles of decolonization: healing, empowerment, reflection, and connections to place and community. Education is power; therefore, it is pertinent that all Kentuckians have access to an equitable and transformational curriculum.
