Virginia Voting Rights Rally Makes News
Posted by: Dave Newton on September 13, 2009 at 08:00pm
Yesterday, KFTC's friends and allies at Total Action Against Poverty, Virginia Cares, the Virginia Organizing Project and other groups held a rally in favor of restoring voting rights for former felons who have served their debt to society.
Virgnia is one of only two states that take away voting rights from all former felons unless they can get a pardon from the Governor. Kentucky is the other.
KFTC participated in solidarity by contacting all of our Virginia members and encouraging them to come out to the event.
Here is some of the news-coverage from the event.
We look forward to continue working together across the state line on this issue with our friends in Virginia.
