Voter Empowerment community events continue
There have been so many small community events where KFTC members have registered and identified voters to mobilize on Election Day, that few of the stories have made it on to the blog. This entry is an attempt togo back and bring a little attention to the events over the last 10 days that we haven't yet posted about.
- KFTC has been involved in constant campus voter registration efforts at Western, BCTC, Morehead, UofL, UK, Brea College, and other schools this past week. Students seem especially interested in registering and getting involved this year and so the work has yielded high numbers of new voters.
- The Roots and Heritage Festival last weekend brought out lots of KFTC members for three days. Members unbelievably got over 700 people to sign a petition for Restoration of Voting Rights for Former Felons, ad well as 150 voter registrations while making strong connections in the Lexington African-American Community.
- We’ve had a relentless schedule of voter empowerment tabling at other community events including great work at Prall Town Days, the Ginger Bread Festival, Healthy Food Local Farms Conference, the Frankfort Climate Action Festival (pictures below), and dozens of smaller events like tables in front of grocery stores and at bus stops, as well as door-to-door canvassing.
