Voter Empowerment Report-back from Tayna Fogle

We wanted to share this report-back from Tayna Fogle, which is only part of the long list of events she's been a part of since late August related to Voter Empowerment and our work to restore voting rights to former felons.  It's an incredible marathon of events - inspiring, but I think you could also get tuckered out just by reading it. 


Thanks to Tayna Fogle - one of our very most relentless members - for all that she does. 


 


- Aug. 26:  Covington, Ky.  Carnegie Centerâ€Night to Change Your Life" 450 attended 25 registered to vote 210 petitions signed, education


- Aug. 28: Elizabeth town, Ky.  PAR Board Meeting Lincoln Trail Discussion on Recovery Voices Count September Ky, Recovery Rally


- Sept. 5-7th  Roots and Heritage Fest, Lexington, Ky. Over 5,000 attended the 3 day event     petitions, voter cards, education


- Sept. 8: Louisville, Ky.   League of Women Voters   Candidate Dinner Get out and Vote    Network, Q&A: Recovery Voices Count Petitions    40 attended 


- Sept. 11: Covington, Ky.  9Th District Elem entry:  Open House 220 attended.  50 registered to vote, 160 petitions signed


- Sept. 13: Covington, Ky.  Door to door.  300 hoses and apt. petitions


- Sept. 14: Williamstown, Ky.  Grant Co. Jail Inmates Sign petition - 25 attended


- Sept. 19:  Louisville, Ky. West end token club    Petition Education 125 attended


- Sept. 20: Louisville, KY KENTUCKY RECOVERY EVENT   700 Petitions, Education, Speeches


- Sept. 23: Owensboro. Ky     Recovery Event Speech, Petitions,   300 attended

- Sept. 27: Lexington, Ky.   Tates Creek Recovery Event   Gainsway Day - 375 attended     15 registered to vote      200 petitions signed


- October - PHONE BANKS  30 Volunteers to call  " GET OUT AND VOTE"  In November   Volunteers include clients from :  Tayna Fogle- V-President of People Advocating Recovery, Chrysalis House, Hope Center for Women, Women's Addiction Recovery Program (WRAP)  and Northern Ky. College Students, Family members.


- Oct. 3-4:    Lexington Ky.  Funky Farm    Speech, Education, Petitions, Restoration of Voting Rights    500 attended.


- Oct. 10-12:    Nancy, Ky.   KFTC ANNUAL EVENT   300 attended workshop, education, petitions, 8 registered to vote, 200 signed.


- Oct 13: Louisville, Ky. Dr. Shelia Schuster- Guest Speaker League of Women Voters 40 attended, 40 signed petition.


- Oct. 13th: Interviewed by:   Lars Moberg, the Swedish TV correspondent


- Oct. 16th: ACLU "Bill of Rights Dinner"   400 attended   Voter Empowerment Guest Speaker


- Oct.21st   Lexington, Ky. Town Hall Meeting  Chrysalis House      City Officals  Chief Justice Mary Noble     200 attended  Education, petitions


- Oct. 25th Cliff View, Ky.     Mama Baby Camp     Rap Session   Re-entry, recovery, voting


- Nov. 4TH     GET OUT TO VOTE!

Oh - special thanks to Albert Fogle, manager of Around The Corner Sports Bar and Grill located in Eastland for allowing KFTC to table for the collection of signatures for Restoration of voting rights for former felons and to register people to vote.
 
Also a special thanks to Steve Chandler, owner of 333 Sports Bar and Grill, located on New town Pike and Juanita Shelby for also allowing KFTC to table and get signatures.
