Voter Mobilization Calls in Northern KY
Northern Kentucky KFTC members called over 100 fellow members tonight to talk to them about the upcoming election, issues in their community, and building New Power! Our volunteers described those they reached as very enthusiastic about the election, and learned about some concerns regarding coal ash storage in Northern Kentucky.
Their concerns, coupled with the concerns regarding the practice of mountain top removal mining, has resulted in many Kentuckians being fed up, and a dozen members in Northern Kentucky are going to take the time this week to sign the New Power Pledge!
While not everyone had the time to discuss what KFTC was doing in the area, Rick Traud recognized one member was interested in being involved when his response about the election was, "You don't have to remind me, you need to go after all of those other people who won't vote," and remarked to his fellow volunteers that that meant he could talk a little longer about what we are doing in the area.
Of course, these are exactly the kind of super-voter KFTC members we need to draw into our phonebanks in future weeks focused on mobilizing 50,000 voters statewide.
Northern Kentucky members were also excited about the opportunity to call other Kentuckians, as a half dozen people called this week signed up for the chance to call the several hundred people we have helped register to vote next Thursday.
