Write an election-related letter to the editor today

One way to have an impact on the election is to write a letter to the editor.  It's free, quick, easy, and is a way to reach thousands of people outside of your own personal circle with a message that might connect with their values, challenge their thinking on an issue or a candidate, or teach them something they don't yet know that might help inform their vote on election day.

Most newspapers have a deadline to submit election-related letters to the editor well in advance of the election, so it would be best to write one soon.

In the Herald Leader, letters of support can be no more than 150 words.  You can email letters to the editor to [email protected] or use their convenient online form at www.kentucky.com/369

Even very short letters can be powerful, so write one today!

Your letter to the editor should be:

- Brief (250 words maximum, or fewer, depending on the paper), easy to read, and to the point.  Some of the best letters are just a couple of sentences long.
- Focused on one issue, and maybe even one angle of a particular issue.
- Supported by key facts.
- Personal. Describe how you are affected or why you care about this issue.
- A call to action. What do you want decision-makers and members of the public to do?
