Appalachian Voices, the group responsible for creating the fantastic National Memorial for the Mountains website announced today the launching of its newest online activism tool, "What's Your Connection to Mountaintop Removal?". This site takes links together coal purchasing records from power plants with the information on which utilities buy their power from these plants.  As a result, you can plug in your zip code and see if your electric company uses coal-fired power plants and what specific MTR sites they buy their coal from.  The results are placed on a map alongside the locations of affected communities that KFTC and groups in other states are working to organize.

It could be great tool to show your friends and family to teach them to visually display their connection to mining in Appalachia and to the communities affected by it. The site is also very deliberate about pointing people to our website to become members, helping further our work against the abuses of the coal industry.

Also, if you have a blog or a website, consider adding a "badge" linking to the website to help get the word out.
