#RestoreTheVote Tweetchat
Kentucky Jobs with Justice will host a Tweetchat (along with Louisville Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott and KFTC) to answer questions and to discuss the recently filed “Restoration of Voting Rights” Resolution which is pending before the Louisville Metro Council.
Councilwoman Attica Scott will co-host this social media event.
Scott is the primary sponsor of this bipartisan measure and Metro Council members Barbara Shanklin, Mary C. Woolridge, David James, Cheri Bryant Hamilton, Tina Ward-Pugh, Rick Blackwell, Marianne Butler, David Tandy, and Jerry Miller have signed on as sponsors.
“If, as a compassionate city, we believe in the rehabilitation process of our criminal justice system, and if we believe in the power of restorative justice, then we will immediately restore the right to vote, a fundamental right, to people who have served their debt to society,” said Scott.
"Voting is paramount to our democracy, and the right to vote for all is the foundation to a healthy democracy,” said Bonifacio Aleman, executive director of Kentucky Jobs with Justice. “Automatically restoring the right to vote to returning neighbors is the process used in 46 states in the United States. It is high time for Kentucky to follow suit. Louisville needs to join Lexington in passing a resolution supporting the restoration of voting rights for returning Kentuckians."
You can join the Tweetchat tonight, Tuesday, June 24 at 8 p.m on Twitter (#RestoreTheVote and @kyjwj) as well as HERE
