Voting Rights Lobby Day (smaller)
Join us for our mid-sized lobby day to restore voting rights to former felons who have served their debt to society.
Kentucky is one of just a few states that strip former felons of the right to vote – even after they've served their debt to society – unless they get a pardon from the governor.
House Bill 70 would restore voting rights to most former felons, and we'll be putting pressure on state legislators to pass the bill.
There's no lobbying experience needed. We put everyone in small lobby teams, with a mix of veteran citizen lobbyists and people who have never talked to a legislator before. We especially value having more former felons there to talk about their own experiences.
Meet in Capitol Annex room 125 for rotating lobby training any time from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Come to the cafeteria downstairs if you need a lobbying orientation after that.
And we'l have a quick debrief from 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in Capitol Annex room 129.
Come all day from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. if possible, but if you can only be there for part of it, that helps too.
Note that we'll have a larger voting rights lobby day and rally 2 weeks later on March 6th.
