Fixing What's Broke, Updated 2019
This is a slightly updated version, released in July 2019, of a report KFTC first published in 2018 about a trio of legislative proposals Congress needs to pass to do right by our miners and communities: The Reclaim Act, a bill to strengthen funding for the black lung disability trust fund, and a bill to protect miners' pensions.
RECLAIM Act is approved by U.S. House committee
After reintroduction in April, the bipartisan RECLAIM Act was debated and voted on during the May 1 House Natural Resources Committee markup, where the bill was passed out of committee on a bipartisan basis.
RECLAIM hearing
Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee will hold a legislative hearing titled, “Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation: Innovative Approaches and Economic Development Opportunities,” including the following bill, and other related measures:
