AT&T bill dies because Kentuckians spoke up!
Posted by: Jessica Hays on March 15, 2012 at 08:00pm
Some good news came out of Frankfort yesterday! The so-called AT&T bill (first SB 135, then SB 12) has been pulled from the Senate floor, and the sponsor and AT&T have confirmed that the bill is dead.
SB 12 is the bill that would have removed the obligation for phone carriers to provide service to people in Kentucky's rural communities, including 911 services. Kentuckians across the state took action, calling in to their legislators, writing letters the editor, calling it out on facebook, and talking with their friends and neighbors asking them to do the same.
You can read more about the pulling of the bill here. Nice work, Kentucky!
