HB 70 Passes House!
Posted by: Dave Newton on February 11, 2009 at 07:00pm
House Bill 70 to restore voting rights to former felons who have served their debt to society passed the Kentucky House with 83 Yes votes this afternoon, more votes than the 60-vote super-majority that it needed and even more than the 80 votes it received last year.
The bill has never made it over to the Senate this early in a legislative session and it's a very good sign, but we need to keep up the pressure!
- Call 1-800-372-7181 (the Message Line is open 7am-11pm Monday through Thursday, 7am-6pm on Friday.)
- Ask to leave a message for some legislators
- The operator will take down your name and address.
- They'll ask you who to leave a message for. We suggest Sen. Dan Kelly, Sen. David Williams, Sen. Damon Thayer, Sen. Robert Stivers and your own senator (if you don't know who that is, they'll let you know).
- Leave a message like "Please support HB 70 to restore voting rights to former felons."
