Voting Rights Lobby Day
We'll be bringing KFTC members and allies from all over the state to Frankfort on 2/19/19 to talk to our legislators about voting rights and encourage them to support legislation to restore voting rights to people with felonies in their past. If you're new to grassroots lobbying in Frankfort, don't worry! We pair new people with experienced lobbyists. The important thing is that you come and share why this issue matters to you.
Rough schedule:
– Gather in Capitol Annex room 169 for rolling lobby trainings if you arrive 8:30 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. (arrive at this time if possible!)
– (Optional) Kentucky Council of Churches Prayer in Action Day in Capitol Annex room 171, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
– Gather in Capitol Annex cafeteria for rolling lobby trainings if you arrive 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. (look for Molly in her green KFTC t-shirt)
– Lobby legislators!
– (Optional) Gather in the Capitol rotunda to participate in the Black History Month activities led by the Black Caucus 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
– Legislators will travel over to the OLD capitol at around 1 p.m., so we won’t have time to reach them after that
– Grab some food, write notes to legislators, etc.
– Debrief 1:30 p.m in the capitol annex caffeteria and drop off your lobby forms. Group picture.
