KY tax reform commission nearing completion of plan

The Kentucky Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform has finalized a set of recommendations about how to improve Kentucky's tax structure and raise needed revenue. The full package could raise nearly $700 million in new dollars in the first year. It also includes several items, including an Earned Income Tax Credit, that KFTC members have long supported.

Rep. Smart visits Madison County Chapter

Madison County Representative Rita Smart visited the Madison County Chapter at its November chapter meeting this Monday to discuss her work at in Frankfort during the last year. Rep. Smart has proven to be a valuable ally of KFTC in Frankfort during her service in the House over the past year, particulary in her willingness to support KFTC's legislative priorities.

Ky. General Assembly reconvenes

The General Assembly reconvenes for its 2013 regular 30-day session. It will meet most weekdays through March 7, take a recess to give the governor a chance to veto any bills, and then meet again on March 25-26 to consider any vetoes and then adjourn.

2013 General Assembly begins

The 2013 begins its regular session with a four-day organizational session. It will then recess until February 5.
